With Icon, I wanted to create a project endowed with character and personality, playing with “harmonic contrasts” arising from the dialogue between soft curves and sharp angles.
The backrest is inspired by the image of a ribbon wrapping around the seat, a line that embraces and contains.

Particular attention was devoted to comfort, carefully studied to achieve a highly effective result already in the four leg and four star base versions.
However, it is in the Synchro version that we introduced a remarkable technical solution: an independent movement of seat and backrest, applied, perhaps for the first time, to this type of bucket seat.
The secret behind Icon’s formal purity lies in the technical and functional solution that allowed us to virtually conceal the mechanisms generating the movement of the backrest and seat.
Icon was designed with the clear intention of creating a truly sustainable product.
The primary objective, now central in the most advanced studies on environmental impact, was durability: the ability of a product to remain in use for a long time thanks to very low technical, functional and formal obsolescence. It is better to use a product for a long time than to recycle it quickly. Recycling, in any case, always carries a significant impact.
For this reason, solidity comes first, together with constructive simplicity, reduction in the number of components and their easy replacement over time. Equally important is the use of an expressive language that is not ephemeral, not driven by passing fashions or short lived trends.
For example, Icon’s fabric upholstery is among the very few in this type of bucket seat to be fully removable, a feature that facilitates maintenance and eventual replacement, whether due to wear, limited thanks to the high quality fabrics selected for the collection, or to evolving expressive needs.
All other components are mono material and easily disassemblable, simplifying disposal and recycling at the end of the product’s long life.
A final and extremely important element is that the finished product is manufactured virtually at “zero kilometers,” at the company’s production site and through local suppliers.
